Our Namesake

Harmon and Smith is the intersection between craftsmanship and legacy. Our leather goods are a heartfelt tribute to these two extraordinary men who have left an indelible mark on who we are and what we do. Our creations embrace and embody the integrity, grace, and love of their legacy, and we hope to see their names carried out for generations to come.

As the fathers of only daughters, Don Harmon and Ray Smith, our maternal grandfathers, share a role as the patriarchs of their respective families, and, by choosing them as inspiration for this company, we hope to express our gratitude for their ever-present guidance. This work is the reflection of the values instilled in us by these incredible men.

Don Harmon, the father of four daughters, infused humor into every day and brought smiles to all those who were willing to listen to his jokes. Yes, he was dedicated to his work, but he still found a way to bring his whole self home to his family, including his grandson, the founder of this company. No one ever needed to worry whether or not Don Harmon would be there for them, so we have created our leather goods for men like him, who are always giving one hundred percent and still dig deep to find even more to give.

Ray Smith, the father of two daughters, is a man of unstoppable faith and kindness. As a U.S. Marine and preacher, Ray Smith holds himself to a higher standard than the average man, and he expects the same of those around him. However, he is not one to force anything, and is, instead, always ready to meet you where you are and help you find your way. He wants what is best for you, and whatever that may be, he is willing to help you get there.

When you choose Harmon and Smith for your leather goods, you choose more than a product. You choose to be a part of the rich tapestry, woven through with the values, guidance, and love of these men who were father figures to so many. Join us in celebrating their lives and influence as we continue their legacy, one meticulously crafted leather good at a time.

Process & Materials

We make everything by hand in the most traditional and meticulous way possible to ensure the quality and longevity of everything we make. No machines are used in our process, everything including the cutting, stitching, dyeing, hammering and burnishing are done by hand.

Because of this and our confidence in the craftsmanship of every product we make, we are able to offer a lifetime warranty on everything we make. If any product we make starts to fail due to craftsmanship or failure of material we will repair or replace it free of charge.

All materials are sourced and produced in the USA. We predominantly use Wickett & Craig leather from Curwensville, Pennsylvania. W&C is a world premiere vegetable tannery founded in 1867. They use a labor-intensive method that requires skilled workers, veg-tanning is a natural, eco-friendly process that produces durable, exquisite leathers recognized for their depth of color and rich patina.
